Hello!
My name is JayDae, but people just call me Jay. I'm fairly new to streaming, but I've been playing games for as long as I can remember. Some of my favorites are Team Fortress 2, Kingdom Hearts 2, Shipwrecked64, and Hollow Knight. I tend to gravitate more toward games that have a strong atmosphere, whether it be silly, dark, or mysterious. However, recently I have been playing a decent amount of Super Animal Royale and have been having an amazing time with it!
During my college years, I had played on an Esports team in games like Overwatch and Valorant. I usually played snipers and supports, and still love both of these class types to this day. In Overwatch I had played Ana, and in Valorant I played Sage and Skye, getting quite good at coordinating and working with teammates, especially as a support. Nowadays though, I've drifted away from the high octane FPS games and have started to try out a whole new set of games, some genres I wouldn't have even thought about back then.
When I'm not streaming or gaming, I'm usually experimenting with Python, microcontrollers (such as arduinos), and learning about operating systems. I also enjoy covering songs for my own fun, I am certainly not good by any means, but I enjoy the process regardless. In the process of building the items you see on stream from bots, audio setup, and even OBS configurations. I have been able to learn and expand my knowledge in things I never even knew about going into streaming. Hopefully, I can learn even more as time goes on and continue to make this place somewhere cool!
Fun Facts!
- While playing games, I can make noises when startled and surprised by something, especially in multiplayer games. We have come to dub it the "JaySquawk."
- Some streams will be solo, while others will be with friends. When I play with others, I give them caricatures on stream, so it's always clear who's speaking.
- I’ve always been fascinated by technology, especially mechanical robotics. It's one of those interests that has stuck with me throughout the years, and is one I don't think will ever fade.
- I’m a big fan of the steampunk aesthetic, and Echara was originally inspired by it.
- I used to play several FPS games competitively in college, but I haven’t played at that level in years.
- I’m almost always drinking coffee or tea when I’m at my computer.
Stream Atmosphere:
On stream, I play the role of an "Inn-keeper", bringing in patrons (followers) who stay at the Sleeping Wyvern Inn. I take on a supporting role, whilst Echara (the Automaton Owl) serves as the face of the stream, they're the one that will be representing me on stream through a PNGtuber for a large portion of the time. Since the stream takes place within the Sleeping Wyvern Inn, I try to create an ambience that fits that. It can be chill, eventful, or even a bit creepy, depending on the game we're playing and the time the stream takes place.
Subscribers are known as "Adventurers," travelers who come from the guild just down the street from the Inn. Echara has a strong interest in how the guilds work, and requests that each Adventurer takes a feather from their stock. Echara makes sure to keep track of who comes back to the Inn to tell their stories by covering each wooden feather in different metals the longer they stay. As such, the badges for Adventurers are as follows:
- 1 month:Bronze
- 3 month:Silver
- 1 year: Gold
- 1.5 year: Platinum
- 2 year: Diamond I'm not completely certain how they covered a feather in diamond like that... but it is quite the accomplishment.
