Backstory
Echara is a clockwork owl who lives in and around a tavern. Standing about 3'8" in height. She was created by a wizard who was trying to do something a bit reckless. To build an automaton that could think and develop a personality of its own, instead of just following pre-existing commands. And he succeeded in doing so.
After multiple months of tests and exams meant to understand how Echara functioned, she began to explore the outdoors - slowly extending her reach further day by day. One day, she left the safety of the wizard's tower to explore the world fully. The experience was... rough to say the least. More than once, adventurers mistook her for some sort of golem, and the ensuing chase left her weary and requiring a place to rest. Eventually, she found her way to a tavern in a quaint village, where she ran into the tavern keeper. After the initial shock, the tavern keeper allowed her to stay, albeit with the requirement that she not get in the way. Over time, she became something like the tavern’s unofficial pet, though “pet” isn’t quite the right word for it. She watches and learns, usually from the rafters, to adapt to those who come and go from the tavern.
At some point, without asking permission, she claimed a small corner of the tavern and turned it into her own little stand. From there, Echara runs what she calls “games.” To do this, she places magically infused trinkets into her beak, ones that she borrows from the wizard during her daily exams. She then activates them and projects illusions and voices through her eyes onto the tavern wall. When a trinket is active, it becomes a shared control. Using Echara as a conduit rather than a puppet. In those moments, Echara uses they/them pronouns, as the voice isn't her own and instead the trinket (me). When the trinket is removed, she returns to acting fully on her own and uses she/her pronouns.
